Wild Hunt: Idle Clicker Dev Log # 2


I would like to start by saying the game has been released on Google Play Store and Amazon Store. It is currently in Early Access on both of the stores and will be updated heavily. The same thing goes for Itch.io I will be updating the game daily and posting a dev log every update if possible.


Changes:

  • Added functionality for spending Pearls that you receive from watching Ads.
  • You can now purchase a Saw Mill with Pearls (+10 to Wood Auto Collection)
  • You can now purchase a Rock Quarry with Pearls (+10 to Stone Auto Collection)
  • You can now purchase a Fishing Hut with Pearls (+10 to Food Auto Collection)
  • You can now purchase housing for citizens on your island. (+1 to Citizen) with a Max of 7 Citizens
  • You can now purchase a second island with Pearls
  • Added various Menu Systems 
  • Bug Fixes*

Dev Log:

I have changed a lot of the core functionality of the game in this patch. For now, there is a max number of citizens (7) that can come to your island. But, I think I want to change this.

So, what do you want the Core gameplay loop to be about now? Context: This is the first Idle Clicker game that I have made.

I want to keep the characters (Devin, and Rebecca Tibbs) from my previous game Wild Hunt: A Fresh Start. I like making games where they share the same universe. Context: In A Fresh Start you're stranded in the woods and you have to build, craft, farm, hunt, fish, etc to survive. 

I was thinking instead of having 7 NPCs per island you only have the 2 Devin and Rebecca. This would open new doors for content. And, islands that you purchase you can explore them instead of settling citizens on them. 

In the future, I plan to add a Crafting system. But, I don't know if this is out of score for an idle clicker game. A Fresh Start had a crafting system but it was also an RPG / Survival game.

If I make a Crafting system would it be out of scope for an Idle Clicker game?

I think for now the core gameplay loop will revolve around keeping Devin and Rebecca Tibbs alive and healthy. I want to add Random Events like wolves attacking and you have to kill them in order to stay alive. 

I made a JRPG Framework that I think I can reuse and repurpose for this mechanic.
